The Melody Whisky Bar is one of the well-known whisky bars in London for its wide selection of great whiskies, coming from many regions like Japan, Ireland, and Lowlands. We headed to Hammersmith to have a good time and taste what one of London’s best whisky bars has to offer, getting all the drams of premium cocktails we can to tell you what we think about them.
The Melody Whisky Bar is situated in St. Paul’s Hotel, Hammersmith Road, London, along with their restaurant counterpart. It’s easy to spot the venue with its old-fashioned, red-bricked walls on its exterior.
There are subtle signs pointing you to the location of their bar and restaurant. There are seats by the garden outside as well if you want to enjoy your drinks while soaking in the outside breeze.
When you enter the place, you would be welcomed by their cosy, high ceiling interiors, a blanket of elegance with their leather chairs, gorgeous tables, and sets of lamps and chandeliers. You can also request a table by the bar’s terrace. Everything really has a British feeling to it.
The bar has an overall relaxing atmosphere with its aesthetic interior design. We’ve also seen people enjoying their whiskies in their quiet garden while smoking a cigar. We’ve also seen larger groups enjoying the bar.
Melody’s sommeliers really displayed their knowledge and specialty with whiskies as they attentively served our drinks. They asked us how we like our whiskey: mine being a bottle with rich flavors and will linger for enough time. Just behind the bar, you would already see their huge collection of famous brands and rare whiskeys that sets them apart from other pubs in Greater London.
We didn’t have any inconveniences as the service was fast, and the staff was accommodating, friendly, and respectful.
We didn’t waste a second and went straight to trying whiskeys with their more affordable whiskey flights. I ordered the Ninja Deluxe, and the Japanese whisky Karuizawa Ocean Geisha was definitely my favorite.
It’s not just because the bottle is insanely rare and expensive, costing 200 pounds per shot. The whisky is almost 20 years old, and only 320 bottles were produced in the world. We liked that the cocktail was smooth and easy to drink while having an interesting flavor and a nice finish.
After the tasting rounds, since we’re already here, we tried their high tea with unlimited champagne for 2 hours, costing £39. Everything was reasonably priced, in our opinion. The finger sandwiches and pastries were decent and complementary to the bottomless drinks. They also have exclusive whiskies. However, we weren’t able to try those.
The Melody whiskey bar takes pride in their rarer drams which are also available in their whisky flights. As we were told, they currently have more than 150 whiskies from all around the world, including Japanese whisky and Scottish whisky, as well as other exclusive and rare labels. They also have more than 150 bottles of scotches.
Whiskeys are available all day for people who check in a room at St. Paul’s Hotel. However, they are only available at designated times for people booked in the bar. We recommend that you try out their whiskey flights so you can figure out what drams you like the most. This way, you can discover your new favorite drink without spending excessively.
They will let you taste special examples, too. They even have bottles from distilleries that are now closed. If you already know your choices, you can opt for their tasting trios that range from £19.00 to £60.00 for three labels on a standard 25ml pour.
On the other hand, their restaurant has a lovely and romantic ambience that’s perfect for brunches, dates, and family gatherings. There was a great selection of beef, fish, and chicken you could choose from. They mostly serve modern European and Mediterranean cuisine. All their dishes were generously portioned. You can also choose to book their private dining option.
The Melody bar and restaurant is a combination of premium whiskies, budget-friendly options, professional staff, and an enjoyable and chill experience. This is definitely one of the best whisky bars in London and we recommend this place if you’re interested in tasting rare whiskies with a comfortable atmosphere. There’s something here for everyone, whether you love whiskeys, scotches, or afternoon teas.
You can check out the full list of their whiskies as well as their whisky flights and whiskey trios on their website. Their social media pages also showcase different cocktails and whisky selections from all around the world, featuring their new labels in their posts. You can follow them to stay updated with their new labels and collab events in the venue. If you want to book a reservation in their Melody restaurant and bar, you can contact them through the contact details you will find on their website.
